Thus saith the LORD, Stand in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and you shall find rest for your souls.
But they said, We will not walk therein…We will not hearken.
Therefore hear, nations, and know, O congregation, what is among them. Hear, O earth!
Behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it. [Jeremiah 6:16-19]
“The reason for the sadness of this modern age and the men who live in it is that it looks for the truth in everything and finds it.” – Jules and Edmond De Goncourt
God knew what he was doing when he designed man with a sense of wonder. But wonder without God results in selfishness, frustration and destruction (just ask the victims of Hiroshima).
The truths of the world, divorced from God, bring us to the conclusion that life is meaningless. Ultimately, there is no meaning. We are just a random accident.
Thank you, God, that we are not a random accident. Our existence in this sin-sick world sure feels random, and I don’t like it. Help me to embrace your mystery and not to fear or rationalize the unknown.
