The other day, someone referred to me as “the master of useless knowledge.” This is a title I held as a teacher in a small Christian school in southern New Hampshire before becoming a pastor. It has been quite some time since someone referred to me as such, but it reminded me that I find all kinds of anecdotal things interesting and am sometimes regarded as something of a talking wikipedia search page.

I’ve decided to devote Monday mornings to a series of posts I’m calling “That’s Why We Do That?” dealing particularly with the trivial and even bizarre things we sometimes do as Christians in church. I’m looking forward to writing the series because there are so many peculiar things we do.
