GREED – The love of personal gain which results in violence, deceitfulness, manipulation and other sin toward others

Read Ephesians 4:25-30

We have seen this passage before and will return to it a couple more times in coming weeks. Greed is a lie. All of these sins are lies we tell ourselves. The first step to overcoming greed is to become the opposite – frugal and charitable. Give away the idols of your greed. Jesus calls us to this radical righteousness. (Read Mark 10:17-22 for his instructions.)

What am I without you, Jesus? I don’t do it all the time, but sometimes I lie to myself, convincing myself that my greed is good. I don’t really want to give things up, so if I’m going to do it, it will be your power. Help me.
