GLUTTONY – literally “to gulp down” or “to swallow.” To withhold from others in need so you may be over filled.

Read 1 Corinthians 6:12-14

This passage is dealing with immorality, but it mentions a mantra that defines gluttony: food for the stomach and the stomach for food. Do not Consider whether you can consume something but consider whether you should. When we are continually over-filled and over-satisfied, we rob ourselves of the blessing of giving to others. This is not just about food but everything we consume.

God, what do I consume to excess? Open my mind to hear your voice and to know what I should set aside for others.
