Thus saith the LORD, Stand in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and you shall find rest for your souls.

But they said, We will not walk therein…We will not hearken.

Therefore hear, nations, and know, O congregation, what is among them. Hear, O earth!

Behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it. [Jeremiah 6:16-19]

When you realize that you are not superior to those who came before you, you have the opportunity to join them in their journey. The journey of faith is a long one – and an old one. Men and women have been walking it for 10,000 years and while the dress code and observances might change, the focus does not. God is just as transcendent to our modern world as he was in the Garden of Eden or at the Tower of Babel.

What is it about your Way that is consistent through all these years? How can you still be the same – yesterday, today and forever? Thank you, God, for your unchanging relevance to our human world. No matter how much we change, you are eternally relevant to our lives.
