Definition

LUST – a love of your own gratification that renders love and devotion to God and others secondary. It is a self-indulgent extravagance, a worship of personal wants.

Read 2 Peter 2:9-1

Lust will turn you against God. Peter says that lusts of defiling passions will lead you into judgment. When lust controls you, it turns you into an animal with no respect for God’s will. You became a creature of desires – consumed with personal wants.

I ask you to consume me, Jesus. Burn up that which burns inside of me – the longing for what is not mine that drives me to do things against your holy name. Consume these desires and refine me to be your child. Make me a creature of compassion and not selfish lust.
